Sara's Story

We are proud of our 7 year old Sara. Sara is one of 4 siblings, 1 brother and 2 sisters, 12, 10, and 3 years old. Her older brother and sister reside in our foster home also. Sara came into care because her family had been evicted and the mother had no where to go. So often the case with short term placements, they have been here 13 months. After coming into care, abuse and neglect in the biological family became evident through the children and therapy. These issues are being addressed with therapy and happy to say the kids are thriving in foster care.

Sara loves singing, drawing, and playing Barbie. She is on meds for ADD, and has some occasional defiance. She wants to live with her mom and misses her, but wants her mom to have a house and a boyfriend who won’t put her head in the toilet or duct tape her when she is naughty. Her bond with her sibs is wonderful, but at Sara, they get angry with her, because she is the one that initially told about the abuse. She was also exposed to drugs and alcohol in utero causing possible delays. She is a delight to have and blends in well with all seven kids.
