Brandon's Story

Brandon is an energetic 12-year-old boy with a “love life, love everybody” attitude. Brandon has a rare genetic disorder called “Kabuki syndrome”. It causes numerous health issues and learning disabilities. Although Brandon is small in stature and functions at about a kindergarten level, he gets along wonderfully with his peers and siblings, and fits into almost any group.

Brandon loves music especially playing keyboard and directing. He is exceptionally excited when he gets to “direct” the congregation while we sing or when he helps serve as an usher. Brandon was in care to protect him from neglectful and abusive parents with AODA issues. He had been in and out of care and moved from home to home nearly all his life, so it was joyous occasion last May 2004 when we were finally able to adopt him. He was with us for 2 years before his adoption, and we are honored to have him forever as our son. It has been a blessing to also have the love and support of his birth grandparents as an active part of his life.
